About the Session

Have fun! Remember this is a great hobby, and we want you to succeed.

Candidates learn their results almost immediately. Successful applicants receive written confirmation of each element passed, and may need to complete additional paperwork for their new license or upgrade. Please do not leave until cleared to do so by a member of the VE team.

Cheating will not be tolerated. If a candidate is found cheating, the exam will be terminated immediately and he or she will be issued a failing grade; the test fee is forfeited and the candidate will be asked to leave the test site. Previously passed elements may be marked failed as well.

Candidates planning to use a calculator will be expected to show it to one of the VE's before beginning the exam.

Code exams are sent using commercially created tapes using the Farnsworth format and ear phones to help each candidate's concentration. The tests will be graded on hand written text copy only; dit and dash translation is not allowed.

Out of consideration for other candidates, please turn off all electronic devices that may disrupt the session.

If you leave the room for any reason during an exam, your test must be turned in to a VE and will be graded immediately. There are no exceptions.

Between exams you may use the rest rooms, get a drink or go outside for a cigarette. Smoking is not permitted in the building or within fifty feet outside the building. Please let the VE team know when you leave the test area for any reason.

You are allowed to take as many test elements as time permits as long as you continue to pass them. Once any element (written or CW) is failed, you must pay another test fee to continue. You may take elements in any sequence.

At the sole discretion of the VE Team (usually based on the volume of applicants and the time remaining) you may be allowed to take a failed element a second time. You will be given a different version of the exam element and a second test fee will be assessed.
