Adobe Treats Customers Like CriminalsCBS News - Secret Software Angers Customers
Apparently Adobe is more than happy to presume we're all criminals so they slow down the software and scan every file we work on to make sure we're not counterfeiting. Nice. What's next? When we work on logos for competitors or anything "offensive" to Adobe? Guess they've decided what my morals and activities should be - I guess Adobe figures they can't be hurt by inserting spyware or making moral, etical and legal decisions for us - PhotoShop has 95% of the pro market for image processing. What's really bizarre is that you are permitted to reproduction currency with some restrictions . Click on link to see the provisions of the law (The Counterfeit Detection Act of 1992, Public Law 102-550, in Section 411 of Title 31). And I can think of dozens of reasons you'd want to - if you're a currency collector to if you are writing a book on currency. But for some reason, Adobe thinks all of its customers are automatically criminal if they reproduce currency even if the U.S. Treasury does not think so and has clearly outlined how and when you CAN reproduce currency. AND then to be weasels about it and claim that, “The average consumer is never going to encounter this in their daily use. It just didn't seem like something meaningful to communicate.” Kevin Connor, Adobe product management director. Well, Kevin, as an Adobe customer, I'm offended on several counts: a) you purposely crippled your own software. b) that you poked your nose in my private business into an area that's NOT even illegal! and b) you presume all your customers are criminals! Nice way of doing business. Nice way to treat paying customers. Here is their "feature request page. " Click on the link to let them know what you think: Posted: Sat - January 10, 2004 at 08:45 PM |
