The Boogie amps are legendary for quality over mass production, but just how many amps did MESA make? In the Mark series, the numbers for the Mark I, IIA, IIB, IIC, IIC+ and III are listed below. As mentioned by others, these numbers have same variability at the ends and beginings of production runs. Case in point is the Mark IIC+ where the offcial party line is that stock IIC+ amps began with 12, 500 for the 1 x 12 model and about k272 for the Series 300 Mark IIC+. There is much evidence to point that this is not the case and the number is in fact very soft. Either way, this page is to act as a guide and shed some light on how rare these amps actually are. When you think that from 1971 until 1999 there were only 27,983 Mark I's to Mark III's, an average of about a 1000 amps per year, that is roughly 19 amps a week. Amazing considering these are hand made amps and until 1980, made by Smith. As well we are not factoring in the Mark IV, the S.O.B., DC series etc. so the numbers in my opinion are impressive.
As I get more information, I hope to determine how many were 60/100, Reverb, Hardwood etc. to see exactly which Mark Series Boogie is the rarest bird! Anyone who has any information to add is asked to kinidly e-mail me at mesaboogie@mac.com.

As the price of Boogie seems to continue to rise, it is very interesting to go back and see exactly how much a Boogie cost with the options at its time of manufacture. I have located all the old price sheets for my collection and I list the options and the cost associated. I was really suprised at how reasonable they were, considering the quality of the amps. Basically, they have held there value and in some cases exceeded it, especially the IIC+ and the original Mark I's.
