Mojo Bonz was founded on January 1st, 2002 after a long weary night of revelry and much foolery bringing in the New Year.  It was decided that although the millennium was now fully underway, and that the hopes for a better mousetrap may indeed finally be upon us, that the live music scene was,..........well, sadly lacking.  No one seems to hit the groove, punch the notes and un-earth those precious Stones.  I mean, those of us that saw the forty dirty Licks knew that they needed to be done!  So along comes Josh, kyle and johnnie with horns, harps and bottles in tow and the first real stones summit was born.  Not without pain and candor, however, big daddy had the plan.  No stone would be left unturned.

Although things were shaping, the formation and chipping of these precious Stones was by no way complete.  A powerful catalyst was needed and came in the form of ron and doug, the foundation was set and the need to bring the message to the masses was more urgent than ever with so many lost in that demon life and unable to rock me, so we established a point of reference and played june 21, 2003 and have not looked back since.

Now you may ask what cast of characters could be up to such a bold task.  Well it requires a diverse and rambling group of individuals, and in the latter department, we are in no short supply.

worked the bars and sideshows

As with any group, it is only as good as the man in the engine room, and in this regard we have the "hemi' of drummers.  A chap with unbeatable skill and rhythm, but a true belief in the concept that less is truly more and that it is all in the groove.  Doug has played in many groups, and done it all with regard to style and expression and feels that the value of precious Stones is "....eventually, you know, we all need to grow, musically as well as spiritually..."

The task of handling the musical arrangement, troubleshooting and rehearsal space fell into the able and deft hands of ron.  A veteran of the music scene on both side of this great country, his love for blues is only outbid for his love of all music and thus a true supporter of the precious Stones concept and above all of its need.  Handling the lead and rhythm guitars and the vocal duties, ron's  deceptive laid back approach will wow even the most skeptical air guitar critic in any audience, a man on the axe not to miss.  Ron feels that this project is a culmination of many roads in his life, best summed up by him "....in all comes down to one word, and I mean life and everything,...SWAY..."
After being born in a crossfire hurricane ian realized his true calling in life and that was the caring and nurturing of these precious Stones and all things Boogie!  Taking care of the 5 string, slide, rhythm and lead guitar, as well as the vocals, his main function is to unearth these precious Stones and spread the infective groove they carry, so often overlooked, by bookin' the bars and sideshows along the twilight zone.  To ian the whole thing is more one of a sense of duty and responsibility than work.  He says "....if I am doing my part right, the old bonz shake, rattle and roll, the key thing being,.....on both sides of the monitors...."

So often men have risen to the task of mining this groove laden infective vein of precious Stones, only to fail in a spiral of missed beats, poor tone and no Mojo.  So concerned was the baumer (below left), and so important the cause, he left the velvet and baroque of carnegie hall, with his saxophone in hand to round out the sound and become the thread to hold this train together.  On reflecting upon his only concern in life, he states "....they know they are nothing without me, and I without them....but it's like a chick you can never leave...."

From the murky waters in and around Jacksonville, johnny a.k.a. the baby faced assassin, (above right) found his first harp in the corpse of a 'gator that washed up on the side of the swamp.  Not content however to be trade his soul just to blow the harmonica like the devil, he made a pact with old lucifer to have him throw some keyboard prowess in for the price.  john shrugs his boyish good looks, grins and says "....hey, I just can't resist a good deal, I mean in for a penny, in for a pound...."

As with so many things, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and if you find that you are the road paved with Telecasters, then you better have one hell of a good guide to show you were to languish in the fire.....in style.  Well we knew that the source of these very Stones is deep along this highway, and although at first kyle (below right) did not realize that he was THE guide for this immoral territory, once decided, he was more than happy to open up his black book and share his trap lines and routes along the back roads of sulphur country, and blew a mean sax while keeping a grin on his face and getting new numbers all the while.  Of his role, he says with his quiet unassuming charm"....hey it was all by numbers, what else could I do, they needed a guide, and it's my kinda town...."

Found in the voodoo lounge, in between sets, it came so apparently clear, what good are precious Stones if there is no queen to wear the crown they formed?  With her silky voice on background and lead vocals, clearly the regent had been found.  As ever, not one to step on others, but more content to cast and weave spells, renée's take as royalty "....honeychild...could you imagine anyone better suited?...."
