CulturePulp 022: Pedal Push
Endnotes
and Digressions:
1.
Now, in all fairness to said propaganda film, I
did
learn a lot about Critical Mass -- about its origins in the Bay Area, about
CM’s ongoing battles with public officials (who had no idea what they were
up against), and also that the phrase “Critical Mass” comes from a
documentary about global bike transit called “Return of the Scorcher.”
You can learn more online, at a loose
affiliation of sites that includes scorcher.org, critical-mass.org and the local site, SubLuna.com/CriticalMass.2.
I was told by a participant that Mayor Potter (who apparently quit the ride
before the Burnside Bridge) rode a recumbent Ebike procured from Coventry Cycle
Works. This information may be completely
inaccurate.3.
Wanna ride? The group meets at 5:30 p.m. on the last Friday of each month in
Portland’s North Park Blocks. The next rally is set for Friday, Feb.
