CulturePulp 017: Lean into the Future!

Endnotes and Digressions:

1. Despite the insane amount of innovation inside a Segway (there's NASA-caliber computation and redundancy going on in that tiny chassis -- a minor miracle of engineering), the super-scooter has resolutely failed to change the world: A fall 2003 recall revealed that only 6,000 or so had been sold since their debut. A new CEO is trying to re-position the device in-market, but only time will tell if people want to pay thousands of dollars to enjoy a technological magic trick when bikes and scooters were doing the job just fine.

That said, it was one hell of a magic trick -- a largely intuitive ride, once you get the hang of it -- and I'd be lying if I didn’t admit I was whooping it all over the parking lot, bruised shins and all.

2. Would you like to know more? Segway.com is the official site; SKNorthwest.com is the dealership site; and 10mph.com is a cool site about some geeks who just drove a Segway across America.

3. And as if we hadn't had quite enough of our dignity robbed by high technology this week: A piece of Team CulturePulp's photo-reference ended up being the subject of a Photoshop thread at Fark.com.
