Endnotes and Digressions:

1. You can learn more about the "Animal Grossology" exhibit -- and the books by writer Sylvia Branzei and illustrator Jack Keely that inspired it -- at www.GrossologyTour.com and the official OMSI page. The exhibit continues in Portland through May 1. I hasten to add that the exhibit’s way cooler than I probably made it look here (for the sake of narrative construct). And it’s probably the only time you’ll be able to buy rubber dog poop in the OMSI gift shop, so, you know, there’s that. But be sure to come on the slow days; there might be live bugs and owl pellets.

2. Darrell D wasn’t kidding: There really is a recipe for "Flubber" online. You can find it here. Just don’t get it in your hair or on the carpet.
