About the Author

Melissa Enderle is an international teacher, currently at the International School of Belgrade. Here she is the technology coordinator/facilitator for an ever-expanding EY-12 IB World School. Her first teaching experience was in Mali, after which time she enjoyed two years in Tunisia. During her stay in each country, she traveled extensively throughout the host country, learning more about its people and culture. Melissa has compiled documentaries of her travels and experiences through artwork, photography, websites (and travelblog), and movies. Along the way, she has also learned to play local instruments such as the kora and rauschpfeife.

Artist

Melissa's artwork has been exhibited in galleries and shows in Wisconsin and in Carthage, Tunisia and several places in Serbia. Two pieces are in a museum in Tunisia. In the summer of 2007 her work will be showcased at the Ethnographic Museum in Sirogojno, Serbia. Her work is a visual documentary to traditional cultures and scenes, with portraiture being a specialty. Works are mostly done in watercolor, color pencil, pastel, oil pastel, and a few with water-miscible oil paints.

Family/Education

Melissa comes from a family of 6 children, raised on the family dairy farm in rural south-eastern Wisconsin. With a large extended family, gatherings are always lively and provide excellent opportunities for playing group games. Melissa received her undergraduate degree in Art Education/Art Therapy at Alverno College, Wisconsin and earned her Master's in Assistive Technology from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin.
