Inside the simple dusty room is housed a vast collection of precious islamic manuscripts, some dating back to the 1300's. A few manuscripts at the Ahmed Baba center were under a glass case, while the rest were piled up in shelves or even lying on top of the table. The center seeks to preserve, catalog, and collect priceless manuscripts found in Mali and neighboring countries.
