The streets of Djenné
Walking through the streets of Djenné was
an experience back in time. Narrow, dusty alleys were shaded from the
sun by the old one and two-story mud brick buildings. A primitive sewer
system ran through the center, making it tricky to walk. Children played
freely in the streets with their home-made toys. Sheep freely roamed
the area, climbing over rubble and eating rubbish.
