Senjak

The Senjak region is one of the oldest parts of Belgrade. Unlike Novi Belgrade which has uninspiring Soviet-era architecture, Senjak has older buildings that have a little character to them. Most of the homes in Senjak have walls and a gate around their perimeters. In this area are a lot of embassies or embassy residences, so I had to be careful where I could and could not take a photo. The Senjak region is hilly, overlooking the Sava River.

  Downtown Belgrade
I enjoy walking in downtown Belgrade, looking at the beautiful old architecture. Many of these buildings are found on and around the walking street Knox Mihailova. Although you will see several styles of architecture including Serbia's version of Art Nouveau, I especially was attracted to the Secessionist style. As more financing becomes available, I look forward to more buildings being renovated before they fall into disrepair.
