The Bears have devised a rating system to rate the number and kind of outfits Melinda wears in each Ghost Whisperer episode. We stole the idea from Joe Bob Briggs, Drive-In Movie critic from Grapevine, Texas. He rated these trash movies based on counting the number of times certain events occurred in the movie. His categories included: beasts, amount of blood, bodies, breasts, car chases, explosions, kung-fu, and motor vehicle crashes.
Clearly, Briggs categories wont work for a family hour TV show (although there are some critics who think Melinda gets away with a lot for the time slot) so we came up with four categories of our own after watching the first few episodes.
Outfits (Out):
The number of different outfits Melinda wears in an episode. This does not include the ones in the introduction or outfits worn by a young Melinda played by another actress (but outfits worn by Jennifer playing a younger version of herself do count). Adding or subtracting an item such as a coat, robe, or hat counts as a new outfit.
Knickers/Nighties/Nothing (KNN):
The number of times Melindas outfit is sleepwear such as a nightgown, pajamas or bathrobe; or underwear. This category was called Knickers and Nighties in season one but since Melinda has taken a shower and a bath already this season, we added Nothing (visible) to the category.
Thelma and Louise (T&L):
The number of scenes where Melindas breasts are very conspicuous. Not just any low-cut outfit qualifies because as Jennifer has said herself I just accept them as a great accessory to every outfit. T&L really need to call attention to themselves in the scene. Examples are drawing a big breath when scared, bending over in a low-cut top, or wearing something really impressive like her black Prada gown or a tight sweater.
Canoodling (Can):
The number of scenes where Melinda and her husband get physically romantic with each other. The action doesnt have to be in bed but they must be enjoying it hugs when one or both of them are scared dont count.
