    The Characters of Ghost Whisperer

Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Conrad , Camryn Manhiem and Jay Mohr star in Ghost Whisperer, a drama about a young woman who has the unique ability to see and talk to earthbound spirits that seek her help in communicating and resolving unfinished business with the living. The show premiered Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network (USA) and will be going into its forth season in the fall of 2008. (Aisha Tyler left and Camryn Manheim joined the series as a regular cast member after the first show of season two. Also in season two Jay Mohr and Tyler Patrick Jones joined the show as recurring guest stars. In season three, Mohr became a regular cast member and Jones was replaced by Christoph Sanders.)

Ever since she was a young girl, Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), has been able to see and talk to dead people – earth bound spirits who have yet to cross over to the other side and who seek her help in communicating and resolving unfinished business with the living. When the show started, Melinda sometimes has a hard time accepting her “gift,” because she’s a newly wed and looking forward to starting her new life with her husband, Jim Clancy (David Conrad), a paramedic. In season one, her friend and business partner in the antique store, Andrea Moreno (Aisha Tyler), was fascinated by Melinda’s talent. Melinda finds herself in the place of those she helps when Andrea dies at the end of season one. But life (and death) must go on for Melinda and she finds a new friend in Delia Banks, a widowed real estate agent with a teenaged son. Letting Delia know about her ability becomes a major problem for Melinda throughout season two. Although Melinda embraces her unique “abilities” as a blessing and sometimes a curse, she always helps her clients – alive or dead – find emotional closure.

Ghost Whisperer premiered in the USA on the CBS Network September 23, 2005.
