On Thursday, i.e., Christmas, I took the subway to Penn Station and then Amtrak train service to Hartford (which requires taking a Boston bound train to New Haven and then transferring across the platform to the shuttle train that runs between New Haven, Hartford and Springfield). There was a celebration of various members of the Imperial family. The following day (Boxing Day for those in the UK) I returned to civilization by the same means. In other exciting news, I had the first stage of a dental implant being installed. This first step included drilling into the actual jaw bone to implant a titanium pin. About a week later there was another brief appointment involving the removal of the stitches that hadn't decomposed and fallen out of their own accord. Other than that not much else happened other than work and a work related dinner. I finished reading the biography of Augustus Caesar by Anthony Everitt. I also finished reading one of the most negative, bleakest and most depressing, yet relatively interesting, novels that I have ever read: The Elementary Particles by Michel Houellebecq.
