My Background
I am pretty much self taught although I did graduate from the Famous Artists three year Home Study Course in Commercial Art in 1965 and have taken classes and workshops over the years in different media.
I have done a few commissions and some of my work is in private collections. I view myself as a serious amateur who is trying to grow, develop and master a very demanding medium with an emphasis on experimentation and variety so I do very little repeating. I don’t know how many more years I will be able to continue, so I am trying to make the most of them!
A word about framing
My works are mounted but deliberately not matted. Having worked as an Assistant
Manager in an art gallery in one of my former lives, I’m very aware
of how any work of art can be enhanced by thoughtful matting and framing.
Matting, double matting, non traditional shapes, non glare glass can all add to the total effect. It is rather pointless to buy a picture you like and then dress it up in your gardening clothes. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money, just be thoughtful about what you choose.
