If you
want to create a truly unique space in your home then an
original, hand-painted mural could be the answer. The
possibilities are only restricted by the limits of the
imagination.
Whether
the space you have in mind is a child’s bedroom or
playroom, if you’d like a really gorgeous bathroom or
something beautiful and atmospheric for a sitting room,
then the experience and expert ability of Wendy
O’Mahony are there to bring it to life.
Wendy’s
previous commissions have included not only the above
situations but also commercial work for restaurant and
hotel walls, and specially designed murals for schools.
Unlike
many artists, Wendy is not restricted to one particular
style of work. Her ability spans not only realistic
depictions but stylised interpretations too, designed to
your taste and the location of the work. As an accomplished
copyist and portrait artist, it’s even been known for
commissions to include portraits of family members and pets
within the design! Wendy can also use the art of Trompe
l’Oeil (literally meaning ‘fool the eye’)
to create a space beyond the wall’s surface –
perhaps a doorway to a beautiful view. Trompe l’Oeil
can add a truly unique, realistic twist to your mural.
Most
mural work will be completed in acrylic paints, then
covered with a protective coating of varnish to make walls
washable (very handy in a playroom!) and to increase the
durability of the image. Alternatively, if you want to take
your mural with you wherever you may move, then some
designs can be created on board or canvas and mounted onto
your existing wall.
If you
are interested in commissioning a bespoke mural, then the
first step is to contact Wendy for an informal chat about
the space and any design ideas you may have. An initial
visit is then arranged to discuss the ideas further. At
this stage the design, the budget and a suitable timescale
for the project is agreed. Finally the really exciting part
of the painting and bringing the walls to life begins.
Working cleanly and with minimal disruption, the work is
completed and you’re left with a lasting, original
piece of art to be proud of.
