vent hood advice--internal v. external blower?

If you have a choice, go with the
external blower. It will be quieter than any internal blower model, including
Vent-A-Hood. I speak from first-hand
experience.
I'd also encourage you to
go with a stainless steel vent liner. They're designed to funnel and move air
efficiently so that cooking fumes are captured as effectively as possible.
They're also much easier to clean than an unlined hood.
