Overview

The Science Live! for Teachers (SL4T) primary science symposium is an exciting day for primary teachers to grapple with conceptual knowledge, pedagogy and hands-on activities in a supportive environment.

For the past few years, The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) has enabled the symposium to take place providing funding, administration, and personnel which makes the day happen. The Centre for the Advancement of Science Teaching and Learning (CASTeL) has collaborated with the RDS in providing theoretical and practical science expertise and experienced facilitators.

The one-day symposium usually takes the following format:

1. Plenary lecture(s) of a key topic in science pedagogy

2. Workshops consisting of hands-on activities for teachers to participate in

3. Poster session(s) whereby research posters of practitioners in primary science education research are presented.

If you would like to attend the symposium or submit a poster for display (with full published peer-reviewed proceedings), please contact Dr. Thomas McCloughlin (thomas.mccloughlin@spd.dcu.ie) in the first instance.
