Well, I made it! I managed to be at work on a
full-time basis for almost 3 weeks!!!
Yay!
It did come at a bit of a price,
mind you, as after a reasonably busy couple of days once term had finished, I
had an awful CFS cold all day yesterday (Sunday) proving that I'd done too much.
Maybe I was getting a little blase, or perhaps I was so caught up in the holiday
spirit that I didn't realise I was overdoing things?? Who knows! After a full
day's rest, I did feel a bit better today, but it didn't help that I had 2
dental appointments - one for a filling and another for a session with the
hygienist. Somehow I didn't imagine it would be such a bad idea. But I was half
way through my filling and I could hardly keep my mouth opened as my jaws ached
so much. Knowing I'd to keep it up for the rest of the time
and for the
hygienist didn't inspire me with much optimism. When I came out from both
appointments, I was elated. I don't think the nursing staff shared my feelings,
though, as I'd forgotten my purse and so couldn't pay for any of my treatment!!
Alan goes for his appointment on Monday, before finishing for the holidays, so
he can sort out the cash then!
After a
brief lunch visit with Dad, it was off home to snuggle up with my blanket, while
willing Andy Murray to do well in the tennis. Sadly, it wasn't to be, but I did
cheer myself up by watching the series finale of Desperate Housewives which I've
very much enjoyed. I'm now officially a
fan!!
Talking of series finales, did you
see the ending of
24???? Poor
old Jack - whenever things look good for him with respect to happiness or joy,
you can bet your life that there's an organised gang ready to pounce. We'd all
been wondering when the Chinese would get their own back on Mr Bauer, and so,
Series 6 looks likely to be a political battlefield between China and America. I
don't mind, but please don't bring back Kim
Bauer!!
To be honest with you, I felt the
last 10 minutes of 24 was a little of a letdown. Had the clock stopped when Jack
met up with Audrey, then it might have been better. But, as it was, Jack went
off to answer the phone with only 10 minutes to go. When we saw him again,
seemingly 7 minutes later, there had been time for him to be beaten up, his face
and eyes swollen with his injuries,
and
he was on a cargo ship bound for Shanghai! Wow - all in the space of 7
minutes????
Of course, we can all be
armchair critics, eh? But I wouldn't mind working for the delightful Kiefer
Sutherland. After all, we have so much in common. Seeing him interviewed on the
Jonathan Ross show recently, I noticed that one of his pet sayings is,
"Bless your
heart!" Now where have we seen
that before, I wonder...
