Etchells Fleet 29 Waikiki, Hawaii
Home Base - Waikiki Yacht Club
On January 12, 2007 Pegasus Racing donated four Etchells sailboats to the Waikiki Yacht Club Education Foundation with the deed of gift stating:
1) The Waikiki Yacht Club to manage and charter Etchells Fleet
2) The boats will be insured, maintained and dry stored at Club expense
3) The boats are to be used for One Design Racing only
4) The boats may not be sold in the next ten years and then only if replaced
5) The boats are to be actively raced off Waikiki
6) The boats are to be used for local, regional, national and international competition
The proposal with the deed of gift was approved by the Board of Directors of the Waikiki Yacht Club at their November 15, 2006 Board meeting and by the Board of Directors Waikiki Yacht Club Education Foundation at their November 20, 2006 Board meeting.
Etchells Fleet 29 Objectives:
★To introduce Etchells One Design sailboat racing in Waikiki.
★To introduce amateur sailors of all ages to Etchells One Design sailing
★To increase the size of the Etchells Fleet 29 in Hawaii
★To host world class competition in Hawaii
★To host the Etchells World’s in Waikiki in 2011
