It's a jeep thing.. now I understand...

You do own a hairdryer don't you she asked? Of course I do, he replied, it's in the driveway, it's called a jeep.

When I first decided I wanted a jeep, it was pretty abstract, I kind of just liked the way they looked and the idea of an off-road vehicle has always appealed to me. But now that i've had it a couple weeks, I think I've found the vehicle I always wanted. Strangely enough, there's not another car on the road that makes me wish I hadn't bought a jeep, something you usually get when you buy a car, suddenly all your other options looks sexier and more fun. Buyer's remorse is what they call it. But riding in the jeep feels like I was supposed to be there all along. With the top off and the sun out, it makes me glad to be alive just going to the grocery store. We'll see how long this love affair lasts, but I think this is the one folks.

My first car was an isuzu i-mark. A joint venture with Chevy, it was also released as the chevy spectrum. The isuzu was like my early relationships where I learned that if you neglect the basic things, it will fall apart. Hoping that the annoying grinding sound would go away is not a solution. It was also like the relationship you can't let go of cause you've got so much invested in it. I had more money in repairs than it was worth... new engine, new tranny, new everything and still things fell off it. I used to tell people if it was a horse, I would have taken it out back and shot it.

My second car was a red honda 86 crx si that I bought from my bass player. It was a very fun car with a perfect mechanical record and I eventually sold it to another bass player because it was rusting out on the bottom. (stupid IL winters) That car was like the relationship that's great for where you're at but eventually you know it's time to move on.

My next car was my inherited from my folks and was an 87 honda civic hatchback. Reliable and predictable, like the person your parents try to set you up with. In the anti-theft department, it had a maroon/brown paint job, rendering it invisible to thieves. The IL winter claimed that one too.

After that came the Del Sol with the t-tops. The del sol was a very cute and fun car especially in the summers and reminded me of a certain blonde I used to date, she was pretty and fun, but just not for me. The del sol now lives with Matt's mom where it will be loved forever.

Which brings us up to the jeep.. of course I've also got a wicked yellow motorcycle.. if that was a relationship, than the motorcycle is the girl you know is trouble, but you just can't resist....
