Peanut Butter
So this construction worker, let's call him "Fred",
everyday when he stops for lunch, he opens his lunchbox and sighs: "man, peanut
butter again? I hate peanut butter." He dolefully eats his lunch. After a
couple weeks of this a buddy ventures: "if you hate peanut butter so much, why
don't you ask your wife to make you something different?". Fred looks surprised
and says: "man I don't have a wife, I make my own
sandwiches."
This story kind of hit me
across the face. We choose our own life.
We make our own lunch. Is there anything in
your life that you dislike? Is it in your power to change it? I know change is
hard, uphill and scary. But it's always worth
it.
I think this story came from the book
The Way of the Peaceful
Warrior. While it's not exactly my vibe, it has
been challenging me. Speaking of choosing your own lunch, I just watched
Supersize
Me. It's pretty entertaining and will make you
swear off fast food for at least a month. If you haven't heard of it, it's a
documentary of how one man ate only mcdonalds for a month and the effect it had
on his body. Pretty freaky. I've got to go work out now.
