Melrose

I'm in los angeles for a couple days to get some business taken care of and here's pop uber producer Shaun Shankel and mixmaster Reid enjoying the los angeles weather. You'll be seeing a lot more of these guys on the blog in the future. They are good people. On a stranger note, I spent most of that night hearing the story of how the first Train record was done from the guy who engineered it. I loved the song Meet Virginia when it came out. When they did the record, Train wasn't signed and Curtis had no idea it was going to be a big hit. You never know.

Comment from mastering guru Dan Shike: That pic of Reid and Shank looks like reflective contemplation before the big heist. "One of us might not come back from this one..."

UPDATE: Since Shaun is new to the blog, I might add that his producer credits include American Idol alumnus Kimberly Locke, Clay Aiken and Hilary Duff. Reid had a recent reminder that he did some tracking for No Doubt which he'd completely forgotten about. I hope he hasn't forgotten the India Arie, Johnny Lang, Relient K and Afters records he mixed. Reid and I join Steve Lillywhite in the studio this weekend to tweak some superchick mixes.
