soundstage




Well we're mixing at soundstage studios in nashville and as usual, I am not finished with all the songs by mixdown, so what I do is take the studio with me, set up in a different room and finish songs as we go. Each day, I'm racing Reid to make sure I finish with a song in time for him to mix it. I do cut it pretty close, but it lets me work every single day up until the deadline. Otherwise, if we were all done before mix, I'd be sitting around during mix. I thought I'd set some kind of record for pushing the deadlines, but when I worked with Toby Mac, he cut an extra vocal while we were mixing and Mercy Me was finishing a song and cutting vocals while they were mixing the track part of it in the other room. Makes me wonder if I can get that last melissa vocal in tomorrow... Reid is doing an awesome job with these mixes and it's been a good time, although when this record is done, I will feel a huge weight off my shoulders.
