Journey's Backyard BBQ![]() Journey's threw a free event on saturday with Tony Hawk, Shaun White and Bam Margera. Basically they are the father, son and holy spirit of skateboarding. (ok not really, but I couldn't think of anything else) Sadly Bam didn't seem to be around, but Tony and Shaun were there along with Family Force 5 and Switchfoot. A couple of phone calls (thanks Jess and Dave) produced a photo pass and I grabbed my new 70-200f2.8L and I was off to the races. Alas, the sky was overcast and very dreary but I managed a couple shots. You can see some of them posted here in higher res than I normally post: http://homepage.mac.com/maxwax11/PhotoAlbum40.html Please disregard the other photo sets, they're all outdated and I'd like to think I'm a much better shooter now. I was pretty happy with how well my new lens was working with my 30d when I heard this sound next to me: clicliclicliclicliclicliclicliclick. Now the 30d gets 5fps, but this sounded like a lot more. It was a pro shooting Canon 1Ds MkII with the 70-200f2.8L IS. He says he timed his and he gets close to 10fps. Dag yo. Nonetheless the autofocus and the buffer speed on my 30d allowed me to get way more keeper shots than I'd have gotten on the old S1. I wanted to get up on the pipe, but some last minute hoopla prevented that... ah well... I figured the cost difference between the 70-200 and the IS version is almost enough to cover a 135mm f2. Reid just bought one and I played with it today and I must have one. It's lovely. If you didn't feel like clicking the link above, here's a shot of family force 5. They're rock stars. (obviously this isn't 70-200 this is 10mm, got to have those wide angles for when they allow you in the pit. 3 songs in, they kicked us out.) ![]() Posted: Tue - June 20, 2006 at 02:28 AM |
