Max's Portable Ceiling

I've been working on a design for a portable flash diffuser and here are my first test shots. It works beautifully. I built it out of off the shelf parts, which are also useful when broken down into their components. As you can see, the lighting is wonderfully soft. Direction and height are easily controlled independently of the camera position. I had brief fantasies of patenting and selling this, but really, when am I gonna get around to it? There's about 20 other ideas like that waiting around in my head. This all came about because I started wondering how to bounce light off a ceiling when it was exceptionally high or in this case, non existent. Watch this blog for directions on how to build your very own Max Hsu Portable Ceiling. A lot of my ideas come while I'm walking from one thing to another and I never get to my destination because I start gathering parts and things and making up a solution out of bits and pieces of other projects.

Sherstin actually came over to do some co-writing and I'm trying a new process of squeezing a song out a day, regardless of quality. We started with a little snippet of an idea I had from trying to deconstruct fiona apple and by the time the afternoon had turned to midnight, we had ourselves a song that we both really liked. Today, was a good day.
