We're number 8! We're number 8! wait! We're number 6?

Soundscan numbers had a nice holiday boost this week, with over 7000 people getting superchick as a last minute christmas or hanukkah present. This lands us at #8 (UPDATE: I guess that was last week, this week we're #6?) on the billboard heatseekers chart, which is currently topped by matisyahu, one of my favorite artists. He's an orthodox jewish rapper who's into hiphop and reggae. Check it out! Thanks everyone for supporting the band.

UPDATE: I'm flying into seattle tomorrow to spend xmas with the fam. They're still running dial-up, so who knows if I'll be able to post. If not, merry christmas everyone, it's been a great year and you're all important to me.

the xmas guide for creatives got to be so huge that I didn't finish it in time. doh! Here's the short summary though:

Best all around gift for creatives: mac mini $499 - you can make records, movies, DVDs or edit photos on this little wonder. Get as much memory as you can. Actually any current mac will do, but for $500 you can't beat this deal. Studio in a box. Caveat: It requires a screen, mouse and keyboard, so if you don't have those already, actually.. how are you reading this then?

Best cheap gift for creatives: Julia Camerin's book the artists way or Stephen Pressfields the war of art. both at borders/barnes and noble.

Best free gift for creatives: Offer to take over one chore or task weekly so the creative person has time to do their art or go do something that inspires them.

Best gift for someone dying to make a record: Digidesign Mbox 2. It's pro tools, it's less than $500, it comes with tons of software and works well with PC or Mac. If you're super santa, pair the mbox 2 with the mac mini. Uber santa would also bring a Rode NT1A microphone and a pair of Grado SR60 headphones. Mostly available at guitar center.

Best gift for someone dying to learn photography: Canon Rebel or Nikon D50, both with kit lenses around $750. Available at best buy, circuit city, wolf or ritz. Print out the price from BHPhotovideo.com and ask the store to price match.

You're killing me! $750? How bout a cheaper point and shoot?: See Steves-digicams.com under "the BEST cameras"

Alternative way to get into photography: Canon K2. Under $200 but still shoots great and uses film for the analog purists. Film? what's film?

Best gift for someone who already owns a canon or nikon DSLR: 50mm f1.8 lens from their respective companies. Great low light shooting for under $100.

Best gift for the aspiring piano player: Casio Privia PX100 at best buy for around $500. I hated piano lessons every day of the whole ten years, but boy was I wrong about that one. Thanks Dad.

Best gift for me: Buy someone you love: Superchick Beauty from Pain or Regeneration. It makes a nice coaster, frisbee or make up mirror.

Peace out! :) Thank the insomnia for this last minute post.
