Life as a cartoon character

Some of you might know, that originally, when we first started conceptualizing the band I didn't want to do any photography. I wanted to do the band as animated characters, (long before the excellent guerillas did it) because I didn't want to feed the very thing we were against; media created idols. I went through a number of ideas including one lovely shoot where I modified barbies until I had a barbie version of the band which I thought was a beautiful statement about people's expectations of rock stars but you know, in the end, I fought the law and the law bought us out. Somedays, you gotta pick your hills to die on... ah to be young and fighting the system again. viva la revolution. In the end we get fat and comfortable and the revolution just goes on without us and the giant media machine rolls on unabated...

Anyways as we've been discussing music videos, currently we are playing with the idea of a 3d animated video, which I'm not sure if it will make it past the planning stages, but thrills me a lot. These are concept sketches from a guy we met in Canada who is ridiculously talented and by far my favorite designer. (If you're looking for an illustrator, actually I know a couple really talented ones, e-mail me.. ) I'm hoping to work with him and these other young talented guys at ruckus films who are still fighting the system. (Thanks for the hookup Abby). Right now we're trying to work out what the whole band would look like as GIANT FIGHTING ROBOTS. I have to say it in all caps because as a kid, I was completely fascinated with robotech and all that and if I could be incarnated as a GIANT FIGHTING ROBOT I could die happy, all my goals completed.. well except for bootsie collins playing on one of my records.. if I could just have those 2 things, I could give up my third lifelong dream of being on the muppet show and die a happy happy man.
