Mauny - an award winner magician - has performed magic both nationally and internationally for over 20 years. Versed in close-up, stand-up, and stage magic he customizes his program to fit his clients' needs. Mauny is skilled in both classical and modern magic. Mystery, interaction, music, and comedy are integral parts in his shows. He charms, amuses, and amazes them all with magic that is guaranteed to please. Mauny is a resident member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. He is also a member of the Society of American Magicians, the International Bortherhood of Magicians, and he is a lifetime member of the International Magicians Society. He moved to Ventura, California from Arlington, Virginia in summer of 2006. He has been entertaining children, teens, and adults in a wide variety of venues. He was the in-house magician at the Arlington Family YMCA where he entertained at birthday parties, after-school programs, festivals, and corporate meetings. Mauny was also booked through local agencies in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. He has performed at school assemblies, libraries, community festivals, theaters, community centers, parks, retirement communities, magicians' conventions, and corporate events. TIMELINE: 1963 - Mauny saw a magician perform, and immediately became interested in magic. 1981 - While residing in New Orleans, Louisiana, he met a traveling magicians who taught him more secrets. 1983 - A co-worker and a friend, Patrick McKeever, who was a past member of the Magic Castle became Mauny's most influential mentor. 1984 - New Orleans, Louisiana: Mauny joined a small circle of magicians who later became known as the "Knights of Sleights" (Led by master magician, Jon Racherbaumer). This group, of both amateur and professional magicians, would meet each Monday night at a local establishment to hone skills, to teach, to learn, and to perform for the few lucky patrons who happened to be present. It is during those late night sessions that his skill level greatly improved. 1992 - Mauny moved from to Southern California to work for a sub-sea oil service company. Despite a busy schedule, he managed to perform at trade shows, private parties, and local schools. He also taught summer magic classes at a private school in Ojai. 1998 - In order to dedicate more time to the art of magic, Mauny retired from a 22 year career in the commercial diving industry. He worked as an ESL schoolteacher while building his magic business. 1999 - Mauny and his wife Elaine - a professional storyteller who on occasions acts as his assistant - moved from California to Virginia. While there (for six years), his career as a magician took off. He performed at local theaters, private parties, corporate banquets, picnics, libraries, community centers, elementary schools, festivals, parks, magicians' conventions, hospitals, and children's birthday parties. He also taught magic at the Vienna Community Center in Virginia. 2006 - After traveling and performing in numerous cities in Australia during 2005-2006, Mauny and his wife Elaine relocated back to Ventura, California where he continues to book magic shows.
