Pesticides in Food
Consumers Union has issued warnings about pesticides (methyl parathion, aldicarb, DDT, dieldren) in fruits and vegetables, especially when fed to children (body weights less than 44 pounds or 20 kg). See "Some residual pesticides on produce unsafe to eat" on CNN's web site.

Although the pesticide levels are within "legal limits," they are still unsafe. Some banned pesticides/carcinogens were also detected. The toxicity index for apples, grapes, green beans, peaches, pears, spinach, and squash is hundreds of times too high. The study urges people to purchase organic fruits/veggies if possible and peel apples, peaches, pears, etc. Check the Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce and the 12 worst produce choices for pesticides.

Check also pesticides in baby food and organophosphate insecticides in children's food.

Pesticides like organophosphate compounds include some of the most toxic chemicals used in agriculture.

Check whether your bunny is ingesting pesticides from fruits and vegetables

Keep your bunnies in mind, try to buy organic foods for them and wash veggies and wash and peel those apples!
