Good Customer Service at Sylvania - A Rare and Delightful Event
During the past year, we installed compact fluorescent bulbs throughout our house. One of the benefits of switching from incandescent to fluorescent is that the bulbs are supposed to last a lot longer - most are guaranteed for 5 or 7 years. Well, we had three bulbs (all of the same type - Sylvania CFL Globe 40) die within a year. We have several more of the same kind that are doing fine, so it must have been a bad batch. So I sent them back for warranty replacement on July 18. I received four new bulbs on August 10.

No hassle, reasonable turnaround time, and an extra bulb for good measure. Good job, Sylvania.

It sure is nice to have a good customer service experience in today's world. It seems that customer service hassles have become the norm, and the positive effects of good service on customer loyalty are often overlooked and undervalued.

Nice doing business with you, Sylvania - you'll get more of my business in the future.

iPhone Available on My Birthday!
vert.apple.iphone
Guess that's a sign that I should get an iPhone, right? We'll just have to see... If Apple decides to open up the iPhone for third-party application development, and it looks like that might be the case, the iPhone should be able to replace my Palm Tungsten E. If the iPhone can't replace my trusty Palm, then no iPhone for me.

Welcome to Blog #2
As mentioned on the Welcome page, the Public Area will eventually contain a combination of material that I previously posted elsewhere on the web, along with some new material. Have a look around.

In addition, this page is the home of my "Blog #2" - where I will post topics other than the "Site News" which goes on the main Welcome page. Possible topics to be included on "Blog #2" include Computer Stuff, Photography, Cars, and whatever else comes up. "Blog #2" has a separate RSS feed, too.

If you have comments, I'd love to hear them. Use the "Comments" link for this post...
