Mission Statement

Mom and Dad Productions is a small not for profit theatre company whose mission is to produce and promote classic and emerging classics for those who do not traditionally attend the theatre.  It is our belief the prime reason people do not attend the theatre is they think they will neither understand nor enjoy a live performance of a play written many years ago.  It is our conviction that the great stories of Shakespeare, Sophocles, Chekhov, etc., will come to life for all persons when the story itself, above all else, is put first.  Mom and Dad is committed to casting roles based on the ability of the performer to tell the story, regardless of age, size, color or gender.  This is neither altruistic nor pragmatic . . . we realize at the heart of theatre is an audience’s need to see themselves and their stories reflected on the stage.  We maintain that there are undiscovered audiences wishing to be welcomed by a company who neither intimidates them intellectually, nor leaves them unchallenged.  We refute the sentiment that theatre is a “dying art” and aim to cultivate new audiences to ensure the viability of live theatre for many generations to come.
