23 Months Old - October 1999

Taylor is still our little princess, usually serious with a smattering of joy and smiles. She's definitely one of the sensitive types; when walking down the street this month some folks had put out their Halloween decorations early. The one in question showed a witch that had crashed into their tree, and Taylor was upset, wanting to know if the witch was okay.

You gotta just smile sometimes.

Matthew's charging right ahead, getting into everything in can. Today it's the golfing play toys we got for the kids. He hasn't even seen Daddy practicing (good; some things kids just shouldn't see :-), yet there he is.

He's also getting into certain things that begin to separate his interests from those of the girls, such as toy trucks. An experience worth noting was his enjoyment in watching a model train panarama setup recently, which had three full-time running trains and three club-members conducting the show.

Probably something to due to watching golf games on TV with the family (that way he gets an idea of how the game is really supposed to be played).

Amanda is mostly a happy little girl, despite a recent bout with a cold and some inbound teeth, which have induced a period of frowns. She's also the last to completely shake the fear of separation from mommy (which being sick didn't help), but we're sure she'll get through it all just fine.

Mandy has been into exploring more and more recently. She enjoys the same intesrests as Matt and Sammy, but for seemingly different reasons; to find out how they work. We see a little engineer hiding in there sometimes.

This picture, only a week old, reinforces that confidence.

Samantha just doesn't stop being on the move. Still the apparent leader of the group, she's constantly into new things, and with the added bonus of talking about them. So now we don't just get to follow to make sure new experiences are positive (as best we can), but we often find ourselves in 'teacher' mode at the same time.

She's coming around so fast, it amazes us when we stop to think about it. Seemingly musically inclined, she's the one child who has practically memorized all the songs of videos and tapes she hears.

Best of all - she says grace for us at every meal :-)
