21 Months Old - August 1999

Well, as you can see, it's getting harder and harder to justify the term "Babies" when referring to my kids. Not yet two years old, they are all very tall, and certainly active.

What you see here over the top two pictures is the unfolding of "Teeth Time!" here at the household. We shout "Time for Teeth!", and they all go running (ok, some days it's not quite that easy) to the bathroom door, and either wait for us to open the door for them or one gets adventurous and opens it for the group.

Left to right for the newbies: Matthew, Amanda, Samantha, and Taylor.

They're all doing well, and it's getting harder to keep up with their interests and latest intellectual developments.

Ok, so now we've gotten, garnished the Barney™ emblazoned toothbrushes, and we're going to work. Not bad for this age, eh? I give full credit to Mommy; heck, I'd have forgotten they had teeth and yet she somehow trains them to do this.

Matthew is very active, and runs blindingly around as you would expect a boy to do, and getting into trouble as a result as often (or more than) as you would expect also.

Amanda is doing great, and we continue to believe that she knows a lot more than she's letting on. Still a stealth-girl, mind you (see earlier pages).

Samantha is our current intellectual powerhouse. Singing multiple songs at 70% accuracy, and knowing her ABCs at this age continually amazes me. She's at the point now where you don't have to strain your gray matter and eardrums to understand what she's saying. She's still the obvious leader in the group, too.

Taylor, well..isn't she just too cuite? Still the princess, she has come a long way to being part of the 'happy child club', and is sensitive to the needs of the others. She's starting to talk up a storm as well.

To the left you see what has become a normal occurrence in the household lately. We only allow them selected amounts of TV, and that's usually Seseme Street, Barney (sigh), and (I simply can't believe I let this happen) the Teletubbies.

Otherwise, we're either playing in the park, the backyard, or we're reading books inside. They can play inside as well as you'll note the toys in the next picture, but we also have a kid library of about 80 books for them to choose from.

This is a cute one for me. Wanting to see if I could keep them still during the allotted TV time, I took these two from the afternoon nap to Barney & popcorn/juice. It worked for quite a while, and they didn't even throw popcorn around...weee! (you'd really be surprised at how low your standards drop in terms of what will make you happy or grateful).
