Welcome to Marz's VW page. I have done a few cosmetic changes to the
site. All previous news items have been removed. This will be a generic
page until further notice.
Pilot's Code - This is a list of "10
Commandments" fron the Special Events Coordinator's Event BIble that
ALL pilots, regardless of skill level, should aspire to.
Pilot's Code - This is the original VGL pilot's

Infrequent Site Updates
3/21/05 - Wow, 4 1/2 years late;) OK, so I won't promise another update here
anytime soon. Just acknowledging that I've moved everything to my .mac account.
As far as me and the VW Universe. Well, I pretty much retired. I did play in
a Gunslingers last night and got to the 2nd round. Also, I no longer work for
D&B. So I might play more since I won't be playing where I work. I'll let others
keep the flame going as far as info for BT. And I join all those others who
miss not being able to double-double in a Quark scraping the paint in RP.
10/21/00 - FINALLY!!!! I've put up the results of the Cincy Invitational!
A note about the results. Many pilots tied for places in solo. I just
went with how the computer sorted on tournament points then however it
sorted after that. It may have been by the original order entered into the
spread sheet. For teams I only have 1st and 2nd places. I've lost the
ladders for BT and RP where I kept track of who won. My memory wouldn't be
able to recreate the results. Plus, the nightmare of trying to come up
with placements beyond 3rd would probably drive me crazy!!
We had a total of 63 pilots!!!!! 1 less than last year! I was pleased to
see Cincy come out of the woodwork at the last minute to give us 16 pilots.
Cincy had a much better showing overall this year. The event ran much more
smoothly than last year. Much of that is due to the tremendous help giving
by Isis of VWE!!!! I also had lots of help from other site's techs in
running events, the console, judging, gathering data, etc. I thank all of
you again!!
Things I wish I could have done.....Partied more with the Chicago group.
You guys are a lot of fun. Also to have partied with MaddMaxx and company.
Unfortunately Saturday night was the roughest night of the Invitational and
I was in no condition to drink. I hadn't eaten all day and was physically
ill from that :/ I also wished I had been able to get that duel in with
Shadow Raven. He kept reminding me, but we never had the chance. I also
wish I had been able to just play more with everyone. My duties as SEC
prevented me from playing more than a few games other than the ones in an
event. So it all comes down to not having enough time. If I could have
added about 8 hours to each day, then everything would have been better :)
What next? Well there are currently no plans to repeat this in Cincy for a
while. New York is having their Invitational in February 2001. Seattle is in
April/May. Chicago is talking about doing one next Summer. So us having
one next year is out of the question. My BT/RP teams are very likely going
to New York next year. Just about all of us are committed to going.
Local site stuff - All events for the remainder of the year have been
suspended. This is my decision as a manager at D&B due to party season
coming up. We are currently revamping the department in a business sense that
should improve sales and guest service. The next event will be Master
Trials after the first of next year (BattleTech). After that we'll see.
That's it for now!
8/29/00 - I've finally put up a tips page for RP. I hopefully will have
some more for it soon. Also we are up to 24 players officially for the
Invitational. SOOOOO if you haven't signed up via the web page, do it
NOW!!!!! I know that there are at least 12-16 more players out there that
SAY they will be here, but haven't signed up!!!!
8/8/00 - We are 2 months awway from the Invitational. Only about 12 people
are officially signed up. So get signed up! I also made a couple HTML
corrections to the 'Mech info pages. I got an Alpha version of one of the
browsers I use and it showed that I didn't use a closing tag in a few
places. Those pages have already been uploaded.
We also did a test run of
the BT Solo event for the Invitational and it looked like a it pretty well.
From the player's suggestions, I have made a slight change of conditions.
See the Template for the new conditions. I've also made some changes to
conditions to BT Leagues. This will help the inherent lag when using
Badlands and Savannah in an 8 pod system.
The general rules page has had an addition made to it. And there has been
a change in event fees. Gunslingers and Master Trials have been included
in the pricing. So now if someone wanted to play in all 7 events and go to
the banquet, it will cost $100 rather than $120. This will make it easier
to keep track.
7/18/00 Part 1 - Remember the Invitational is coming up! Also, RP Mondays.
There should be at least 6 pods, if not 8, on RP all night Monday. However
people need to come in so that we can continue to have it on Mondays as
this is a test.
7/18/00 Part 2 - Updated some of the 'Mech config pages to reflect the rebalance
of 4.9 :) Took long enough. I honestly forgot to do it. I also updated
the prices for those 'Mechs. Put the correct price list under the BT
section (was only in the Invitational section before). The same for the BT
Master Trials rules. Added the Denkou and Kotori 'Mech pages. Got a
config (the only one so far) for the Denkou. No configs for the Kotori.
Also updated the big config page. The Satyr configs are now all considered
4.9 with the change in the LRM5 and SRM2. Some of these changes happened
ealier than today, but most of them are today.
6/21/00 - The Cincinnati Invitational will be held from October 5th - 8th
2000 at Dave & Buster's Cincinnati! Follow the above link to the
information page.
3/13/00 - Added Red Planet VTV Weapon data to the RP page. Madea couple
corrections to the VTV data.
2/22/00 - In the works:
Cincy BT pilot rankings.
List of registered BT Cincy pilots along with how the system works.
Cincy RP High Scores
Resumption of a list of World Records for RP courses (along with what
constitutes a Record Run).
RP Tips page.
Possibly rework the BT Tips page to make it easier to navigate.
All of this will be done over the next month or so. I am also working with
pilots from other sites to revamp the BT Master Trials rules. I also plan
on doing some additional updating on the rest of the Special Events Bible.
Just a few tweeks, no major changes.
The VGL Mailing list was revived recently. See above for the new address
and how to subscribe. Remember that VWE has 3 forii (Latin plural for
forum;) ) to post on. One General, one for BT, and one for RP. Check it
out sometime www.virtualworld.com. Also
the VWE channel is ressurected on DALnet. Log into DALnet and "/join #VWE"
to get there. One of us old timers or not so old timers might be lurking around.
Last thing. Denkou data now updated to reflect 4.9 patch that moved the
Left Torso PPC from Loop 4 to Loop 1.
2/10/00 - Greetings all! I have finally updated the site with the Tesla
4.9 Data. New things in 4.9:
'Mech - Denkou - Sunder variant.
'Mech - Kotori - Owens variant.
Radar improvement. Mesas and structures now appear in Ravines and
Badlands.
IR button now labelled.
LRM 5 and SRM 2 damage both increased to 20 points. No increase in
recharge or heat generated.
Thermal conductance improved on the Large Laser. This means that it
will not fuse as fast. It still generates the same amounts of damage and
heat with the same recharge time.
Hellbringer has been removed due to system limitations with added the
new 'Mechs. No additional 'Mechs can be installed without removing other
'Mechs at this time. VWE is working on a solution.
Sunder performance slightly improved. Denkou performance is also
slightly better than the Sunder.
The CMC Police VTV, the Dragon, has been added to Red Planet.
Two new canals have been opened up in Red Planet - Firestorm's Fury
(based on Choices from 3.0) and the yet unnamed Cartographer's course
(based on Ottobahn from 3.0).
I think that's all the changes from 4.9:) I have updated all information,
and made a few corrections to my data. Since Tesla BT 4.9 involved a few
weapons changes, separate pages for 4.9 have been created to reflect this.
I expect to add some more BT Tips, and I am hoping to begin a Red Planet
tips page soon. That's it for now! Enjoy!
1/4/00 - Well, yet another infrequent update. Some time after January 30th
Tesla 4.9 will be released. As soon as I have all the vitals on it, I will
update the site. I've tried to get the info ahead of time, but have come
up short :( It's good to see that development has resumed at VWE. I hope
that they continue to have success and develop more updates. Other things
that have been happening at the site. We now have a ranking system in
place. Currently I am #2 behind Centurion. On Monday, January 10th, we
will have our next Master Trials. Also on that day there will be a mini
tournament for the top ranked pilots. I really can't remember how this
works other than that it will determine a new ranking for us. Also all of
our win/loss records will be reset. I believe that the winner from each
quarter will compete at the end of the year or something like that. No
more tips to add right now, and I'm waiting for the next BT novel to come
out. That's about it.
9/29/99 - Hmmm, well not much new here. This message is mostly to say that
yes, I'm still around, and playing. Albeit infrequently. I've finished
all the in-print novels so far. I still haven't come up with a novel by
novel guide yet. I think that the task may be too daunting in my mind to
do. At least the idea I have for it. I've got another tip to add to the
Tips page, but I am waiting on confirmation of certain information. And
what about events? Well, there are events happening at the site. A new
crop of regulars has formed. I just do not post anything about them right
now. I am thinking about getting permission to do this as no one has really
taken up the baton on it on a regular basis. Just an FYI, though, there
will be a BattleTech Master's Trial Oct 5th at 7PM. All info is at the
site. There are also plans for a ranking system using elements from New
York and Denver in the works. Most likely another web site will be used to
post these. That's really it.
6/25/99 - I've put up the preliminary BT Novels page. It can be found on
the BT section of the site. This page will be expanded later.
5/26/99 - OK, so the site came back before today, but I figure if I do any
kind of updates, it mught be a good idea to put something on the main page
about it;) Anyway, I've done two things today. #1 is I have uploaded my
Tesla Armor Data that I've had for a long time. Just one of those things I
really never got around to doing. It can be found on the BattleTech page.
#2 is that I've made the BT Tips & Tricks page easier to wade through with a sort
of Table of Contents. That's really it for now. I'm currently trying to
read the last few reamining BT novels (I still need to get the most recent
one). At some point I am going to have a page devoted to them.
