So I went to see Ultraviolet tonight with my
friend, Don. Bottom line, don't see this movie. It tries to be a comic book
movie with elements of the Matrix and Blade. Big hint here...there is no
Ultraviolet comic. Now I know there was no Matrix comic before the movie came
out. However, the writers were a lot more successful in conveying a new world
and a good story. Ultraviolet just plain sucks. OK, maybe not that bad. At
least there's Milla :)
Yeah, she's pretty hot in this movie.
Just about every scene in there I was mesmerized and hypnotized by her :)
Grrrrrr, baby! Anyway, it wasn't enough for us to notice that about mid-way
through the movie just began to unravel. At one point the entire theater busted
out laughing during probably the most serious scene there was. I had heard a
few chuckles in spots that were not meant to be funny earlier too. But once
that collective laughter happened, it seemed like everyone agreed that the movie
was just plain bad.
Besides Milla,
there were some other cool things. I did like some of the concepts in the movie
like being able to carry stuff in a "magic bag" type thing like many RPG's have.
Violet basically had a never ending supply of guns, swords, and bullets. They
called it "flat space." The visual changes her character goes through were also
pretty cool Almost chameleon-like. Taking on the coloration of her
surroundings, not trying to blend in and hide. Some of the music was cool
techno stuff. I did find it a bit distracting a couple times. Seemed like in
the middle of a couple scenes the song changed completely or the music became
more of the focus.
The action sequences
were way over the top in a couple places. I mean, c'mon..she's no Neo. She's
supposed to be in the real world, not a virtual world. I don't care how good of
a fighter she is, there is no way that she is going to get through 50-100 armed
men. There were also a couple spots where she is literally surrounded by men
with guns and guess what? They shoot each other! DUH! Talk about bad tactics.
I guess Violet is the only one in the future that knows what crossfire
is.
Anyway, I also got a really cool
gift:
A miniature Death Star. Makes a cool
sound too:
Yeah, I was playing Star Wars
Battlefront II last night at my friend's place. Another buddy of ours came by
and gave me this. It rocks.
