Living in a blue stateA few of you (I suspect, I don't really know)
probably think I'm hiding out in a depressed post-election stupor. You could not
be further from the truth. I have been very
busy.
I should be working on my novel right now as "little boo" is asleep. But I am going to miss my self-inflicted deadline anyway and I've been at it pretty hard for the last hour and a half. Well, kind of. I've also been looking at www.sorryeverybody.com. You can guess what that is about. And I will say that that is the only post-election pity I've allowed myself. Where to start. I'm pleased that Eyman's initiative failed soundly. I believe that all of his initiatives should come with a warning. Something like "Passing this initiative will jeopardize public transportation, public health, public education, anything public that has an element of good to it. It will also line the pockets of a selfish b@$†@®∂ who will just keep trying to make the life of the common person more difficult. Stop it." The monorail also passed. Enough already. Let's get started. Murray got elected. So did McDermott and I believe they will go forward with the good fight. And, most importantly, almost half of the US voted with their minds, not out of fear. I also can't say how pleased I am to be living in a liberal bubble. And I'm hopeful that this bubble will only get bigger. But speaking of living in a liberal bubble, I am a moral person living in a moral neighborhood, in a moral town, in a moral county, in a moral state. And we're blue, dammit. So, because the RNC has labeled Kerry and anyone who supports Kerry as far from mainstream, Alan and I have decided to make a video of our radical house. I want to call it "One Day in a Radical Household." We are hoping to include commentary from friends and relatives (this is of course open to our friends and family who supported Bush) to send to the president. We want him to understand that we are far from radical. That we are real with common problems and a common backbone. So if you want to get involved in this project, email me. Just click "feedback" below this entry, or write to marypearl@mac.com. We'd love to hear from you. We also might send you a request. Posted: Wed - November 10, 2004 at 11:52 AM |
