What is Atheism?

Atheism is the lack of belief in a god. More broadly, atheists don't believe in any supernatural entities of any kind: angels, demons, ghosts, spirits, souls, heaven, hell, the afterlife, or gods. We don't believe in these things because there is no reliable evidence supporting their existence.

Atheists believe that the universe is knowable and that the scientific method and critical thinking are the most reliable ways of understanding the universe. Atheists also believe that ethics must be based on current practical human experience and needs, not on 'supernatural revelation' or ancient texts.
