| This is the engine that came with the car. It was running and was able to drive the car around. Unfortunately, after doing a compression test, we found one of the cylinders was low and after pulling the heads found quite a few cracks. Obviously this engine had been run hot quite a bit. We decided to take this engine out and replace it with a Type IV engine out of a 914, since I had a few extras laying around. It's worked very well, but we've kept the original engine for the time being. |

| A pair of Weber 40 IDF carburetors came on the stock engine which we were able to swap onto the Type IV engine with the purchase of some Type IV manifolds. This has worked really well and saved us a bunch of money from having to purchase carbs. We added a crossbar linkage which, while not being one of the top of the line hex bar linkages, has served its purpose so far. |
