One of the great moments of unintentional comedy at JavaOne was this guy's performance at the Friday keynote. Absolutely, spectacularly clueless. The audience were in stitches. Clearly a company to watch out for.
DJ asked me to spill the beans - read on...
At one point, Benioff is demoing his company's product, and he doesn't end up where he was expecting. He has absolutely no idea about how to get back on track - totally lost. Everyone in the audience can see a login form at the top of the screen, username and password filled in already, and is shouting "Login! Login!". Eventually a techie comes from behind the scenes and presses the Login button, to massive applause.
Not much later, he does this again. I can't remember how he got out of that one.
When McNealy is asking him about the technology, the guy blanks. McNealy gamely volunteers something about java midlets, and (I kid you not) Benioff says "Uhhh... yes... Java Jiblets". The audience were wetting themselves, seriously.
You probably had to be there.
