FRONT GARDEN
After studying Japanese garden design, I sought to create a low-cost version in my front yard. I sculpted the final design out of the ground, based roughly on kare san sui concepts. I used regular pea gravel, sections of my friends broken concrete wall, caste my own concrete cyclinders and rocks, and utilized a standard concrete block and circular stepping stone to make a lantern. I found several large stones elsewhere on my property and placed them in the garden. I also transplanted native plants from other parts of my property, including madrona, salal, oregon grape, scotchbroom and crabgrass.
