Lauren's Week in New YorkLauren mixes business with pleasure and spends a
week in New York with family and friends
I didn't bring a camera with me, but my week in
New York definitely deserves a blog entry. I was scheduled to be in New York
for an Internet Advertising conference on Wednesday and Thursday, and since we
were in Philly till Sunday night, I decided to stay on the east coast and spend
time with some of my favorite New Yorkers throughout the
week.
Monday morning I had lunch with my oldest & best friend Rachel. It was great to have a little "alone" time so we could dive right into our old gossip -- all in preparation for me to FINALLY meet her boyfriend Rich the next day! I have to say, I was very excited about Rich -- Rach is quite a catch (brilliant lawyer, hot mama marathon runner, all-round fun girl, yada yada), and I think she finally met her match! Rich and I hit it off right away due to our mutual love of negotiating, among other things. I spent the afternoon attending a workout with Cousin Monica called Core Fusion. It almost killed me, but I hung in to survive what is supposedly the hippest new workout regime to hit New York (apparently Julia Roberts attended the week before). Then, slightly crippled, I spent the rest of the day with Monica, Bella and Beckett till I met up for dinner with old college roomies Tracy and Bonnie. Tuesday involved more time with Rach and Monica as well as a fancy haircut at John Sahag (the haircut I can afford roughly once a year), which looked exactly like this until I stepped out into the rain. I sort of revived it in time to go to dinner in honor of Pat Suh's birthday at an awesome place she picked called Mix. If you are looking for a special occasion place in New York, be sure to go to Mix and order the Fois Gras Ravioli appetizer! Wednesday and Thursday were mainly filled up by the conference, but I still managed to do lunch with Aunt Lisa (as is always the case with Aunt Lisa, the stimulating conversation resulted in a 2 hour lunch, causing me to miss a post-lunch conference session... oops) and experience a Yankees game with Pat! Thursday night I got back to Philly in time to kiss my parents goodnight, and Friday I moved my flight later to have plenty of quality time with Mom & Grandmom (and Merri & the boys were a bonus) before heading to the airport. My week on the east coast was much needed, though there was no better feeling than making it back to Austin in time to relax and spend time with my husband, getting back into the swing of things and ready to face the week.
