Pre-Christmas in Ithaca

Marc & Lauren enjoy a week in upstate New York for the holidays

By Tuesday afternoon, we were pulling into Ithaca amazed at our luck -- no airport delays, no lost luggage! The only slight problem was that I'd lost my voice due to a lingering cold... but Marc didn't mind, as long as I didn't get him sick...

It was beautiful and snowy out -- apparently we had missed bitter cold NEGATIVE degree weather by only 1 day!

We used the rest of Tuesday to see lots of family. Laurie was working, but we spent some time with Gramma & Grampa, headed out to Trumansburg to see Skip, and ended up spending the evening catching up with Brenda, Ed, Melissa & Parker at their gorgeous new house on the Lake. Check out the view!

Wednesday we got to see even more family -- Laurie got to see us on her way home from work, and Gramma's brother David and his daughter Cassie dropped by:

We had planned ahead to spend our evening with friends -- we've developed a habit of spending at least one vacation dinner at a great Ithaca restaurant with Odin & Charly. This time the restaurant was the Heights, and the meal was incredible... almost as good as the company. Here we are with the Wocjiks and Jake at their place in Dryden.

Thursday Amity and Justin showed up!

We hung out with them all day, while Grampa prepared his famous pizza for us. It was worth the wait. Cheers, Grampa!

After dinner we spent most of the night catching up at the Chapter House. Justin impressed us with MANY valuable theories... more as the beers kept flowing...

Before we knew it, it was Christmas Eve! The whole group gathered for the traditional Seafood Neuburg -- the Evans' even made it over, making Christmas Eve dinner the largest meal I'd ever attended at Gramma & Grampa's house.

The night concluded with hours of all of us wrapping presents, which became a little more fun after Grampa's Grasshoppers.

Finally, well past midnight, we all climbed into bed as visions of sugarplums danced in our heads...
