Trilogy "Prom"

Celebratory Weekend in San Antonio

Friday evening, Marc & I packed up our fancy clothes and headed south for San Antonio to celebrate Trilogy's 15 year anniversary "Prom," a black tie award banquet that calls out the outstanding employees, managers and teams that have made the company successful year after year. We were excited to get down there to spend time with old friends and take advantage of Trilogy's generosity (including free golf and spa treatments!), but were even more excited about a stop we made along the way, to Gruene Hall:

Gruene Hall doesn't look like much by day...

... but when we pulled up Friday night to the old, historic dance hall in the middle of old, historic Gruene -- especially as the venue and town were ablaze in Christmas lights -- it was like we went back in time. Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, two of our favorite Texas artists who are married but don't usually play together, entertained us and others who had driven in from all over central Texas with an INCREDIBLE holiday show. While most of our Trilogy cohorts were partaking of "Casino Night" down in San Antone, Marc and I wrapped up our romantic evening listening to a phenomenal version of "It's Cold Outside."

We were at the Hill Country Resort by midnight, ready to start our weekend bright and early on Saturday morning. By 8AM, Marc was out golfing and I was heading to the spa for a massage, and then downtown to wander, people watch and shop. When I got back in the afternoon, Marc had become a golfing legend by allowing Abby to drive a golf ball off of an empty beer can on his chest, all the way into another Trilogy executive's golf cart... winning "Joe's Challenge," the CEO-driven alternative golf talent contest:

The official Prom began Saturday evening, when we got fancied up and joined the whole company to honor the best of the best.

We were thrilled to see old friend Jeff VanDyke win the "Starmaker" (best mentor) award and an incredible mountain biking adventure vacation, and have Abby receive a well-deserved star of her own along with a diamond bracelet (she's not only an outstanding golfer -- she's good at HR too!):

A highlight was when the Goodyear team won the first ever "Trilogy Cup," a "Customer Team of the Year" award that must be nominated and supported by Trilogy customers. Notice that the Cup is filled with cash and flanked by actual security guards (in typical Trilogy over-the-top fashion):

We spent the rest of the evening surrounded by so many of our friends -- interestingly, most of the married couples we hung out with actually MET at Trilogy!

Joe should be proud of the fact that, along with building a great software company, he managed to facilitate the bringing together of (as far as we were able to count) about 75 married couples that met at Trilogy. Here he is with Andra, his fiancee whom he met through none other than a Trilogy connection:

The prom lasted well into the wee hours of the morning, but the photo-documentation seems to have ended before that. Needless to say, it was a great party.

Sunday morning, we all eventually rolled out of bed to face a beautiful 80 degree December day in San Antonio. A group of us gathered for Tex-Mex brunch before caravanning back to Austin.

By the afternoon we were back in Austin writing holiday cards, catching up on laundry and email and doing last minute holiday shopping before our last full pre-2005 work week. Unbelievable how quickly this year has flown by!
