Otis Goes Home
Our Foster Pup Becomes Someone Else's
Baby
It was a really tough decision, but we've decided
to let Otis go. As one of our more faithful blogreaders mentioned, today we
gave Otis his NOtis. He's a great dog, but we weren't ready for a second pooch,
especially a pup that had never been taught the basics. We weren't truly
committed to give Otis the attention he deserved and, most importantly, he was
always going to be our second favorite. When we talked to Becky and she was so
excited to take Otis running, bring him home for Christmas, have him sleep in
the bed with her (we were letting Ella stay at our feet but keeping Otis on the
floor), take him to obedience classes... we just knew that he'd be better off
with her. We suddenly realized that keeping him with us wasn't in his own best
interests, and after being neglected for so long, his happiness was the most
important thing. The good news is that
we'll still get to be involved in his life! He lives nearby, and we've already
arranged to have him stay with us for a few days next week when Becky is away on
business. Here are the two dogs, a bit
depressed to hear my news of the
separation:
And here they are kissing (okay,
biting) goodbye:
