Neighborhood New Years 2006
Low Key and Surrounded by Friends -- Just how we
like it
While part of me wants to say we partied like
rock stars this New Year's Eve, the truth is we did exactly what we felt like
doing. The Zimmermans had the neighborhood crowd over (maybe a dozen of us) and
we spent a relaxing evening with some of the people we're most comfortable
around.We had great
food:
Great
weather:
Fabulous Entertainment (including
several costume changes):
After a while, the boys and girls
separated... boys smoking cigars in the game room, no doubt. We ladies didn't
mind:
Finally, it was near midnight, so we
waited to toast before calling it a
night:
Unlike many New Year's parties, one of
the highlights of our neighborhood party is the following morning, when Jeff
& Cori host a big brunch. They went all out -- french toast souffle, 2 eggy
dishes, biscuits, sausages, and of course mimosas. The 75 degree weather didn't
hurt either:
After brunch we decided to pretend
like it really was winter. The flagship downtown Whole Foods had created the
first ever outdoor Austin ice rink on its roof, and we were excited to partake
(no matter how soupy the ice). Mazzy was a
natural!
Marc chose to skip the figure skating
(as did all of the boys). He went home to work on his hot rod (you'll notice
the rod blog is back in action...) and we met up for a great meal at Curra's and
finally got to see King Kong
(excellent).All in all, this New
Year's might not have been quite as exciting as last year's road trip to
California, but it couldn't have been more relaxing.
