Moben Sued by Kitchenhell!

1 March 2007 As Moben have not seen fit to offer compensation for not providing the quality of service and product promised, I've reached the point where court action is the only sensible option. Today I wandered down to the County Court and handed over three copies of my claim and the £120 Court Fee. The claim is for £4750 plus the Court Fee.
The three copies are for the claimant (ie me), the Court and the Defendant (MKD Holdings, as owner of Moben Kitchens).
Moben will have 14 days to respond.
They could :
- Agree to pay in full
- Offer to pay part, with or without justification
- Refuse to pay, with or without justification
- Not reply
They could also reply late (they're not very good at doing things on time in my experience.)

MKD responds!

6 March 2007 MKD Holidngs filed an 'Acknowledgment of Service' with the court. They intend to defend the whole claim ie they are telling the Court I should have £0 compensation. MKD have 28 days from this date to file a defence.
So Moben think that the appropriate compensation for providing abysmal kitchen fitting service which takes 19 weeks instead of two weeks even after loads of chasing by phone, letter and email and leaves you with a mediocre kitchen and lots of remedial work to do is £0. I think it's safe to say that Moben appear to have only contempt for their dis-satisfied customers.

APRIL 2007 NEWS from www.kitchenhell.co.uk

Homeform Group sold!

5 April 2007 According to various sources including Yahoo Finance, the Homeform Group, which includes Moben Kitchens, Kitchens Direct, Sharps Bedrooms and Dolphin Bathrooms, has been sold to Sun Capital Partners Inc.

According to the article, Sun Capital say that it's '100% 'Business as Usual'' - I hope they don't really mean that! They are also quoted as saying 'our customers, will really begin to see the benefits as the months go by'.

The strapline on Suneuropean Partners website is 'uncovering value in underperformers, turnarounds and special situations'.

The Homeform Group's website confirms the news and says 'There will be no change in the service we offer our customers.' - so no cause for celebration there then!

I would hope that a new owner would wish to make a good start by improving the reputation of its aquisition? We'll see.

Happy Easter!

13 April 2007 There are press reports that Homeform has closed 10 of its stores as part of a cost cutting exercise.

17 April 2007 I've applied for a Court hearing and provided copies of evidence to MKD and the Court.
