CAN WE STOP THE BLOGGERS?

“We need to do something about this, and fast, because otherwise we'll see more slips of the keyboard like the one I made” -BILL THOMPSON

FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS WHAT WE PROTEST AND TRUTH IS WHAT WE FIGHT FOR!- MyWorld! (ME)

I must take this time to admit I don’t tend to pay too much attention to the news which im slowly learning to improve on, but earlier from the normal routine of hearing the odd word or 2 coming from the news on the tv in the other room I hear ‘revolutionary’ and then ‘weblog’, and ‘new literature’.. I ran into the room.. wow.. they have finally noticed weblogs! They have finally decided to tell people about them, inform the naïve world about the news they can find from individuals on the net! They were saying that weblogs (blogs) are now being recognized as a new literature and it was showing how many authors have been getting the ‘blooker’ award, someone has obviously been mingling with the word ‘book’ and ‘blog’, this award is for authors who publish books that have started off as blogs such as this American cook that was also talked about.
EXCELLENT! So naturally I wanted to find out more! More blog butt kissing!! Mmm yessss pleeeeeease!!..
So I got surfing on the BBC NEWS website, and the most exciting headline I found was ‘CAN WE STOP THE BLOGGERS?’, as soon as I saw that I was thinking ‘wahoooo’ it’s exciting this question is even doubtful, but if you think about it, we really can’t be stopped. This article is basically saying how by simply stating if something should be private or public is simply not good enough. See it from Bill Thompson himself (Bill is a regular commentor on the BBC WORLD service program ‘Go Digital’), ‘The blogosphere has shifted the boundary between private and public, and made it much, much easier for anyone who desires it to engage in the public sphere’. So basically if there is one person who thinks there is no need for that rule or just have such an opinion against which is just to strong to hold in then that’s it, one click of a button with a bit of patience and there you go, the information is gone, gone to the world to see, worldwide, and who has that control? Who was in control from the beginning as soon as they heard the information? THE BLOGGER! Blogs are being recognized as a new revolutionary literature, and as long as the internet keeps spinning and as long there is always at least one opinionated person with a computer and motivation receiving information then the bloggers will always have a permanent place on the internet, they (we) will always be the voices of the internet, and that we are! No one can change this, if the internet stays then so do the voices within! -and I'm proud to be one of them.
That article, and on the news actually, it was briefly talking of the danger of how bloggers stating facts on their blogs or “facts” on their blogs which aren’t actually true facts which could either be lies or misunderstandings might well be taken seriously from the next reader or blogger who reads it, because most of the time the reader doesn’t always have something to compare the information too, so then the reader who might turn out to be a blogger will spread it to other bloggers, who will write about it of course, and before you know it you could have a countless number of serious critising facts that might not even be true just from one misunderstanding from the original writer or maybe it was a quick typo because the publisher was only roughly typing it up on their laptop while half asleep in bed.. lets face it, blogs can get so informal, there is this danger, there is no 2nd person to check through and confirm the information to you, the power and control is completely within the fingertips of the bloggers themselves..
But, no one can escape this danger, I think you should be able to tell if a blog is telling genuine information to you or not from reading other material they have published, just like you would normally do with authors by reading their books before deciding to buy another one, or hearing music from a certain artist before buying more.. it’s the same with a blog, read the majority of the material before taking them too seriously.. no need to stop the blogger! FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS WHAT WE PROTEST AND TRUTH IS WHAT WE FIGHT FOR!

The 3 blogs that I favour and enjoy reading the most, and 3 that i have found to be genuine too!
