Trapped train passengers break out for freedom! (thats English transport
for you!) ... my mum was lucky!
It was complete chaos for passengers on the
trains to Kings Cross yesterday. Over 400 people were trapped in three trains
because of a power fault! (including my
mum).
It was so hot on the trains and
the staff wouldn't let passengers out, there was also no air conditioning when
the power failed, so when all options failed to try and get off the train they
were smashing there way through the windows just to get
free!
Apparently in the train
temperatures began to reach 115F to 120F and people began to panic and pass out.
People with asthma were suffering from breathing problems, and there were
pregnant and elderly people on board so it must have been quite scary for them.
As water supplies began to run out champaign was started to be given out from
the drinks cart just to quench the passengers
first!
Eventually when everyone had
broke their way to freedom, most people were stranded trying to call for cabs or
think of any other way they could get
home.
Eventually helicopters had to come
and throw everybody water while they waited for a passing
train.
There were up to eight casualties
suffering from heat exhaustion but apparently the 300-400 people on board showed
a 'typical english spirit' throughout the whole
situation.
Luckily my mum didn't
suffer, she managed to get on a train that was on its way to Cambridge! Which is
completely different way to to where we live, but this was only we could rescue
you her!

english transport for ya!!
