My Emo Theory..


What is Emo? You don't know? it's become a very popular style around here
now.. it's become some what of an annoyance..
Emo is a style of music, which is actually short for "Emotional", but yet
it's not refering to all emotional music.. AT ALL!
It is in fact meaning all the popular punk music that have emotional lyrics.. sad, angry.. etc, which tend
to scream to try and make it hardcore, eg. fightstar.

The Emo style.. pearl necklaces (they obvious don't know what 'to give
someone a pearl necklace' actually means..), strippy shirts.. boys wearing
shirts that are too small for them.. half of their hair will be combed over
one side of the face, guys often gel it to this style too so it looks like that very cringing scene from that film 'there's something about Mary'.

I was once very confused about this whole new trend that suddenly seemed to
spread everywhere.. but now i have realised that it actually started a long
time ago, and now (as most trends do) it has come back into fashion- but it
never used to be so commercial.

Accept this time i think it has got quite bad. I listened to EMO music and
it's basically just pop-punk music.. but according to an emo then it isn't..
but they sound just the same.. my theory is that the word EMO has just been
given to some music so they feel they can be different and 'alternative'
(which is impossible to be because alternative would be them not looking the
same.. and they do!), so basically i just think it's an excuse to try and be
different, an excuse to have their own 'unique' style.
They also even have this music which is called 'Screamo'.. yes that's right!
It IS a real word! Doesn't it sound pathetic?.. jee.. i wonder what this
music is like.. screamo.. hmm.. *sigh*
In this music they think if they scream into a microphone and put a few
chords together then thats hard-core.. that's emo! That's screamo!

Maybe i still don't get EMO.. or maybe it's the fact of how much people can
be fashion victims is what i don't get.. there are now swarms of these EMO
kids.. everywhere! It's so pathetic.

It's just pathetic that why they feel they must seperate half of 'punk-pop'
from it's genre then give it the name 'EMO' and feel it now must unoffically
be a style.. oh, not forgetting it's an 'alternative' style.. which it
really isn't.



Here's 2 definitions i found of EMO:
1. Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

2. Like a Goth, only much less dark and much more Harry Potter.
